In 1999, Josh started a grassroots non profit organization called "Panic Fans for Food" which hosted food drives at Widespread Panic shows all over the country. Pretty soon, a movement was started and fans began clamoring for more opportunities to give to their favorite charity. At the 2002 Jammys, Josh was awarded the prestigious Mimi Fishman Award for Community Service.

11 years later and Widespread Panic has adopted Josh's idea with great success as an official part of their philanthropic efforts. Millons have been fed through this concept. Josh currently works as the Communications Director for MANNA FoodBank and has helped to educate and unite thousands of people in the cause to help end hunger.

One day, Josh wants to open his own PR firm, but till then, he's content to harangue the general public to give back. If that fails, he can always go back to playing music full time.
