I've currently been working on t-shirt graphics and making Topo Ranch a great place to work. My latest project is called Polaroid Simulacrum. Check out the slideshow below.
Interview a Pioneer
What's my dream?
This is going to include a lot of "I wants". I want to build a company that inspires people to reach for their dreams. I want it to be a place where employees and customers feel comfortable alike. I want Topo Ranch to be known for making really comfortable stylish clothing out of super soft organic cotton materials. I also want Topo Ranch to be known for being a creatively cool company without being alienating. I want. I want. I want. I have big plans and desires as you can see. Eric, myself and the other Ranch Hands will make it happen.
What bands are in heavy rotation?
The albums I’m listening to right now are Jazz - Queen / Ten Silver Drops - Secret Machines / The Very Best of - Steely Dan / Beast Rest Forth Mouth - Bear in Heaven, Stay Positive - The Hold Steady / West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum – Kasabian. I’m pretty much all over the board, but I’m not a big hip-hop rap fan. Eric rounds out that listening on The Ranch.
What artists are you influenced by?
I don’t really know anymore, but rest assured what I do make is very derivative. True original ideas have been tough for me to come by. Don’t worry though they’re lurking deep down inside waiting to emerge again. I can feel it in my nuggets.
What's my favorite food?
Pretty much any pasta my wife makes or the Rosa Pizza from Pizzeria Bianco, or the carne asada tacos from Gallo Blanco, or anything on the menu from Mozza in Los Angeles.
What's do I like to do when I'm not working or hanging with my family?
I like to think about what I could be doing to make Topo Ranch cooler and more fun. I know that sounds stupid, but it's true. Our new idea is to build a community based on user submitted and user voted dreams. I'll explain more later. I'm still working on it. I do from time to time like to tip a few brews back and drink a bit of red wine. I also like to surf and play foosball. You may also find me trying to figure out how to paint or draw without a computer.
What's your creative outlet these days?
The outlet's are few and far between and are usually spurred by making something for The Ranch. Right now I'm working on some wringer washer paintings, t-shirt designs, and plaids. We'll see where it leads. Kenny, our resident artist is starting to influence me. Hopefully something good will come of that.
What's your favorite surf spot?
I have to say it's Scotchman's cove just south of Corona Del Mar. I have some good memories from there. I think the best waves I've surfed though were at Pohiki Beach on the Big Island of Hawaii.
